Edward Payson, Horror Movie Director

Tonight we shudder at home with horror director and filmmaker, Edward Payson who tells us what horror movies inspired him to grow up and start making scary movies, we talk about his upcoming feature releases including video game inspired BITS with horror legends, Dee Wallace, and Dominique Swain.

We also hear about the upcoming horror anthology film, The Sunday Night Slaughter starring Corey Feldman.  We had to ask, and so we did, were there any funny stories working on set with Corey Feldman? Ed delivered.

One story is about a security guard strapped to the nines like he is defending the president and not a paranoid movie star, and the other is about getting tricked into appearing at Ninja Turtle themed birthday parties for the price of a day rate.

We watched one of the best movies we have ever seen and it just happens to be a horror movie, MANDY.

We’re gonna go deep on this one but here is the tag line and give you a little history on the filmmaker …

Tag line : Sometime ago in the 80s, a lumberjack  and his girlfriend get attacked by drugged out cult members. the lumberjack, Red goes on a quest after they mess with his lady Mandy that turns into this ferociously poetic masterpiece of utter darkness, dismay, and eternal drive to right wrongs.

The opening text "When I die, bury me deep, lay two speakers at my feet, put some headphones on my head and rock and roll me when I'm dead." appears to come from the final words of Douglas Roberts, a man convicted of kidnapping, robbery and murder in Texas and executed on April 20, 2005.

Now the filmmaker said he is more interested in how stories are told than the stories themselves. He also is quoted in a featurette saying something to the tune of, he wants to turn all his films into pop art because he was only allowed to read magazines about horror when he was a kid and study the poster art.

Talking about Panos Cosmatos, who is film making royalty but he may have earned his chops as a video assistant on his dad's movie, Tombstone and then used his royalties to finance his first feature, Beyond the Black Rainbow.

We get into a deep discussion about why we feel that Mandy is a great film, where you can find the film to give us your opinions on it, whether or not the entire movie is the dream of a dying character, what is a whimsical horror movie, and why Binge-Watchers will never be the same after experiencing this movie.
